Massage Styles/Types
Styles of Massage and Types of Massage are different, someone may claim to do swedish massage and another person claims what they are doing is swedish and they are night and day different... what it comes down to is a persons energy and STYLE of massage:
Different Modalities will include a few key points, the rest is dependant on the unique rythm of the therapist and her/his personal style.
Ancient writings on Massage can be found in historical artifacts in several civilizations including Greece, Rome, India, Japan, Egypt and Mesopotamia...

Understanding where the insertion and origon of muscles and ligiments are, working on range of motion, and streaching applied with other modalities such as Neuromuscular Therapy with its cross fiber friction and some swedish modalities such as deep efflourage, petrasage, and tapotement. The lymph system is in your skin, not your muscles. So as much as it may seem, Lymphatic massage is a gentle directional movement of fluid toward and over key lymph systems and nodes (key lymph areas will be in the neck, armpit, groin and behind the knees). Feet elevation for an extended period is essential in proper lymph drain. (as well as avoiding sugars and alcohol). Lymphatic Drainage massage is a must for post sugery patients!
Reflexology Massage
Reflexology is a complex system that identifies and addresses 7000 nerve endings in the foot, encourages the flow of blood to each organ which correlates to a point on the foot as well as sending pain relieving messages and amino acid endorphin chemical change occurs through the nerves to the specific site of the body.
Longitudinal energy zones discovered and dated back 2500BC in Egypt are the basis of reflexology.
Meridian Refexology Massage
follows and maps the same meridians in the ears, hands and feet (same as above but more detail) The therapist uses a map of each body part to target and pinpoint symptoms based on points where nodules, pain and small crysalized are found. After initial mapping session, it allows the therapist to address what zones to work.
